A 4th of July Giveaway....

In the spirit of celebrating life, I am giving away one special knot dress to one lucky girl.  I recently met a friend whose daughter had been through quite a bit, and thankfully is doing well right now.  She is three years post a liver transplant, and still faces a life of medication and possible complications.  There are so many children who are sick with life threatening illnesses.  I look at my girls and am grateful every day for their health.  It brakes my heart to think about all the children out there who have cancer, heart disease and other life threatening diseases.  Children are far too innocent, and should never have to go through something like that.  Their biggest worry in life should be what flavor ice cream to eat.

I believe in giving back, and hope.  If I can make one child smile, even for a brief moment, because of my work, then I am overwhelmed with joy.  If you know a child who is going through a tough time because of a terrible illness, who would love a special dress, post a comment here, and share their story.  I will announce the winner here on July 15th.
From my sweat peas to yours, have a happy and safe 4th of July!

  4. Hello. I found your blog awhile back thru my good friend Julie at sweet memories photography.Your creations are adorable..i have two baby boys but if i ever have a lil girl..i will be shopping with you! We live in a very small town in Tennessee. I would like to nominate Morgan Mingle she is four years old and been diagnosed with cancer. I do not know of the family personally but my oldest son (3) and Morgan attend the same preschool. For her make a wish-she wished that the entire preschool have a huge icecream party. So, they did just that..I thought that was a selfless request coming from a four year precious..Thank you for allowing me to nominate her. my family blog is and email is thank you jessica

  5. I just read your post on the MJ board. It's so sweet of you to do that. I feel weird nominating my daughter, but we've had a lot happen in the last two years. My son Hunter (who is 9), was diagnosed with Spina Bifida last fall. He has other medical conditions besides this and it made life rough. We adopted him when he was 12 days old and because of the lack of prenatal care, we are seeing the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome. He had surgery in January to correct tethered cord, which was causing scoliosis as well. After the successful surgery, we went back to just regular doctor appointments, blood work and the like. (Geez. Maybe you could make a dress for him! Just kidding!)

Then in March, my daughter Elsie
(3 1/2) was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. She will have to have cortisone injections every 3 to 6 months and also have regular eye exams to make sure an infection does not cause blindness. There is no way to know if this will go into remission or if she will have it the rest of her life.

We could not believe that we were hit with yet another major medical issue in our family. I spend all of my time shuttling two kids to endless doctor appointments, pre-op, post-op and surgeries and occupational therapy sessions.

I started writing a blog that was born out of the need to write about the joys and frustrations of raising children with disabilities.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story.

  6. Your work is truly beautiful...and I know why...your are so beautiful on the of these little girls is going to be so lucky to have one of these dresses! xo Shannon
