The Low Down...

Well.  It was an interesting day yesterday.  The weather started out iffy, and it poured on the drive into Manhattan.  But, thankfully, it cleared before we got there.  Hurdle number one complete.

We set up quickly, and the venue was beautiful.  Big and spacious.  Much bigger than I anticipated.  I ran to meet Kristen of Gock's Frocks as soon as I walked in.  We have been chit chatting on the phone the past few months, and it was like reuniting with a long lost friend.  Love Kristen!  She is fun and spunky, all you would would expect.  I wish we lived closer to each other.  As I was finishing unloading my car, I hear my name called, and I turn to see April (Allforthekidds) and her husband.  April and I were in our very first ebay group together almost 2 years ago, so I was so excited to finally meet her!  She is a mama to five and I don't know how she does it all!  She is simply beautiful, and very laid back.  It was a joy to spend time with her and her husband.

After I set up, Linda and I spent some time chatting with the other vendors.  People probably think I am nuts.  I just waltz over all bubbly and cheery, and introduce myself.  Some of the most talented genuine people were there.  It was a great group of artists.  I met Melissa, of Little Girl Pearl, and her mom.  If you do not know her work, you must go check her out!  Her designs are so much fun!  There was an instant connection, and I just loved both her and her mom.

My neighbor was Alyssa of the New York City Diaper Co.  She is a fun earthy mama who I had a lot in common with.  If you are interested in cloth diapers, check her out.

These are some bad pics of my table.  My camera for some reason did not want to focus.

If you see anything you like, send me an email at genmarie@verizon.net.  Sadly, I brought home with me almost everything I made for the event.  Here was the bad.  Although the venue was beautiful, it was in the wrong location.  There was barely anyone who came in.  Drips and drabs of people here and there.  By noon, many of the vendors were upset.  After all, this was a big investment for many of us.  Then the rain came in for an hour, and for about 2 hours, there was no one other than the vendors there.  So, yes, I am extremely disappointed to say the least.  Overall, it was a very unprofitable day for all.

The positives were meeting all the vendors, and I also met the amazing Geeta, of Babette.  She is unbelievably talented, and both her and her daughter are stunning.  And her accent just adds to her charm.

I didn't take many pictures despite the over abundance of time to do so.  I will be listing many items on etsy this week that are ready to ship immediately.  I sized pieces in sizes 2, 4 and 6.  If you mention the word blog at checkout, I will give you free shipping.

And I had to buy the girls Wooberry Dolls.  There was no way I was leaving without them.

I am fried, spent, depressed, you name it.  I brought Linda to the airport today which was really sad.  We have become so close.  We had a great 5 days together.  I will never be able to thank her enough for all her help.  Linda is just one of the most amazing women I know.  My girls fell in love with her.  Poor Emma was so sad when we dropped her off.  She cried, and has been on and off all day.  Linda made necklaces with the girls, played in the back yard, and even had a sleepover with Emma!  So despite the failure of yesterday, I will always be grateful for the time I spent with Linda.  It was never a dull moment.

Until later...

  1. Great to meet you, too, Christine. Chatting with the other vendors was the highlight of the day! I hope we can meet up again sometime soon under more profitable circumstances! --Elissa, New York Diaper Co.

  2. i'm sorry it was a flop 'customerily'. when i do my shows, unless i've done the same one before, you just never know what to expect. one we went to, my husband went with me. (which was a miracle to begin with!) It was to be a 2 day show but even he noticed we were in the wrong crowd. He said, "I think you're out of your element!" When he can tell, it must be obvious. Sooooo, we packed up that night, and didn't go back the next day. It was like a 'carny' crowd, a fair crowd. You just never know! I know you'll sell your things on etsy! Have a GREAT week!
