Ahhh, A Beautiful Morning...

It's an absolutley beautiful morning here in NY. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the flowers are in full bloom. It's the kind of day that motivates you, speaks to your soul. This is the tree in the front of my house. Each year it blooms for a short period before it gets it's leaves. It is so peaceful to look at. I wish it would bloom all year. And this is a daffodil in my garden. I just love flowers!

Did Picasso's Mother Go Through This???

It's Friday night, time to unwind from a long week. I was sitting at my computer catching up on emails, my husband was taking out the garbage. I thought the girls were watching a show, boy was I wrong!

Miss Ava, my little troublemaker, decided she would hone her drawing skills, and took a brown crayon and drew all over the house. She colored Emma's dresser, wall, and door, then decided to move into the hallway, then why not color mommy's sheets. Now you can't stop there, so she traveled down the hallway, coloring as she went, into the living room, where she did a nice big mural, then fianlly ended in the kitchen at the refrigerator. This was the Tour de Ava. LOL! Good thing crayons are washable and Mister Clean Magic Erasers work!

And here she is, my little artiste!

Finally Spring!

Well it is finally spring in NY! Actually we have been way above normal temps with highs near 80. It's been beautiful! We can finally play in the backyard and go to the park. Thank goodness! I thought it would never come!

I took the girls to the beach today to take pictures of my new set for WisteriaLane's Here Fishy Fishy mini launch. It was breezy but plenty warm. I wish it would stay this way, but I am sure this weather is short lived.

Blogger Thinker Award

Erin, The Vintage Pearl, my dear friend and groupmate, just awarded me the blogger thinker award. She says I always pick the best fabrics, and my designs are so fun to look at. Thanks Erin! Erin makes the most stunning jewelry, and is so sweet!

So now it's MY turn to hand out 5 Thinker Blogger Awards!!!

1. My first one goes to Amelia, of Sweet Feet Boutique. I have long admired Amelia's designs and photos. She is so inspiring to me. Her designs are so creative and chic. And her photos, well, I just love looking at them. She is an absolutely beautiful person in every way. I am so glad I have gotten to know her through blogging.

2. Second one goes to Michelle, Pixie Coutore. She is a fellow Nyer. I love reading the tales of her life as a mom. Plus her designs are so beautiful to look at!

3. This one goes to Julie, Picture Perfect Frames, one of my sweet customers, who has become a friend. She is the sweetest southern gal I know! Her picture frames are adorable.

4. Goes to Gyl, Rhembien, whose blog is so enjoyable to read. I so enjoy reading about her trials and tribulations of life on an island. Her photos are stunning. I just get a kick out of her! Gyl is just one of those cool girls you want as a friend.

Back from Puertro Rico...

Well, I'm back. Thankfully we missed most of the bad weather here in NY. It was absolutely beautiful in Puertro Rico. So warm and sunny. We all had a great time. Our day consisted of waking up, going to eat breakfast, then to the pool by 9am. Nothing like sitting in the pool with a pina colada in your hand by 10am. It was so peaceful and relaxing there, I forgot it was my birthday until my sister called me. Now that's a first! Not much else to say about it, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Ahhhh.....

Introducing Hailey...

I had to share some photos of my niece Hailey. I made this dress for her for her birthday, and she just looks so beautiful in it! Her gorgeous red hair, and creamy skin...just darling. I named this piece Prairie Flowers. It's currently listed.

I am Big Black Boots!

This surprises me, I am more a flip flop kind of gal. I have tons of them! But the attitude part doesn't! I am a true Aries girl! Fun quiz Erin!

You Are Big Black Boots!

You can be best described as: attitude
You've got lots of it - and you love to give it
A guy has to be pretty gusty to hit on you
But if he's your type, you'll warm up... a little

My Little Fashionista!

I had to snap a picture of Ava this morning trying out a new look. I think she was going for an athletic biker chick look. LOL! New fad, you never now...

I've Been Tagged...

Erin, my dear friend and groupmate, tagged me, for a game of show me your desk. I have this tiny horrible desk in my room, nothing special at all. One day, I will have a beautiful sewing room/office that is inspiring. So here it is, just don't ask me to show you my sewing space! LOL! Now it's my turn to tag someone, so I am tagging Chelsea and Wendy.

Getting Personal....

So it occurred to me that since I have a blog, perhaps I should write a bit about myself. LOL! So here goes! I live on Long Island, New York, have basically my whole life, with a small stint in Florida.

My husband...he's the best. We have been together now for almost 11 years! I don't know where that time went! We both grew up in the same town, he was two years older than me, and I never knew him. I met him right after my high school graduation through a friend. I moved to Florida to go to school, and didn't like it. So I came back to NY and ran into him. I've been with him ever since. He's the first man who asked to kiss me. He's a gem! I can't say enough wonderful things about him!

Before having my girls, I was a special education teacher. I worked with children with autism for 2 years, then in a resource room. I loved teaching, but the minute I held Emma in my arms, I knew my career was over. I just couldn't leave her. She was almost 4 weeks early, and I thought I would die having to leave her in the hospital when I was released. She was born the day before my baby shower, so Chris went, and played the part. He even wore the hat made with bows! Now that's a real man! LOL!

Then 20 months after having Emma, came Ava. Ava's birth was completely different than Emma's. She refused to come out, she was breach, so I had to have a C section. She's been throwing me for a loop ever since!

Fast forward 1 1/2 years after Ava was born, I discovered the ebay boutique world. I had never sewn anything before in my life! Swear! But I desperately wanted to learn. So my mother-in-law worked through one pattern with me. I was hooked! My fabric stash began to grow and grow, as I was learning. I don't even know how much fabric I have now...at least 10 totes full. Can you say fabric junkie?! I took two basic sewing classes, bought myself a sewing machine and a serger, and haven't looked back. Sewing and creating are my passion! There is nothing like taking a piece of beautiful fabric, and turning it into something pretty to wear.

Perhaps you're curious as to the name GenMarie. GenMarie is named after my little girls. It's a combination of their middle names. Gen is for Emma Genevieve, Genevieve was my dear Grandmother's name, and Ava Marie. I had to add the boutique to my ebay id because GenMarie was already taken. So there's a bit about me in a nutshell.

Morning Dew

Today I photographed Emma for my new listing. She was surprisingly very cooperative and did a great job! I did have to bribe her with a trip to McD's play place! Small price to pay I guess. Check out WisteriaLane for our April Showers Brings May Flowers launch which started today.

I am super busy this week preparing for a trip to Puertro Rico on Saturday. I am so looking forward to soaking in the sun and the warmth. It was a whopping 49 degrees here today. I will be turning 30 while I am there. Not a bad birthday gift! I'll have lots of pictures to share when I get back.

My New Listing

This is a picture of my latest design for the JM Takes Flight launch. My sweet Ava was awfully tough to photograph for this set.

The Bunny Has Come

It's Easter Sunday, and the Bunny has arrived. The girls were very excited to open the front door and see if the Easter Bunny brought them baskets. Of course he did! With all the Easter goodies they got from family, you would have thought it was Christmas!
